Operator (Extruder, Utility, Paper, Reclaim, QA)

Location:  Glasgow, KY         Reports To: Production Coordinator          FLSA Status: Non-Exempt        

Purpose

Operators are responsible for the manufacturing / production ane insuring the quality of 3A products.  Operators must adhere to EHS policies, procedures, and regulations at all times. 

3A Composites is a leading player in segments such as composite panels for high-quality facades and display applications. In the United States, its best-known brands are Alucobond®, Dibond®, Gatorfoam®, Sintra®, and Fome-Cor®.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively troubleshoot  equipment for optimum productivity and quality.
  • Operate forklift daily, as needed.
  • Communicate with Production Coordinator and Lab Technician daily.
  • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures effectively.
  • Check finished board for gauge average and record test results.
  • Examine board for smooth, even surface and record test results.
  • Inspect board for width, length, and diagonal difference and record results.
  • Inspect board for score line position and record results.
  • Examine board for crimp width and folding consistency and record results.
  • Monitor the production schedule and complete product change overs, which require adjustments to the equipment downstream of the primary puller.
  • Monitor the activities of the Material Handlers and delegate the set-up of the EOL area to complete packaging procedures of the material.
  • Ensure the finished product is labeled or stenciled with the correct date, product type, product size, quantity, run number, and pallet number.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and maintain accurate records. 
  • Basic math skills.
  • Self-Starter with little supervision.
  • Mechanical aptitude – have demonstrated and understanding of machine logic and the ability to troubleshoot equipment successfully.
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Basic computer functions.
  • Understanding of lock-out/tag-out procedures: ZES, IES, etc.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift in a safe manner.
  • Ability to analyze and document SOPs.

  • Team player spirit.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, or other PPE required.
  • Operatives (formerly Operatives (Semi-skilled)). Most jobs in this category include intermediate skilled occupations and include workers who operate machines or factory-related processing equipment. Most of these occupations do not usually require more than several months of training.
