3A Composites is a leading player in segments such as composite panels for high-quality facades and display applications. In the United States, its best-known brands are Alucobond®, Dibond®, Gatorfoam®, Sintra®, and Fome-Cor®.

The Senior Buyer plays a critical role at 3A by ensuring the timely supply of raw materials, parts & supplies, HQ and plant services, equipment, and finished goods for resale at the lowest possible cost. The Senior Buyer develops sourcing strategies, negotiates contracts with suppliers, replenishes supplies and services, and manages overall supplier performance and issue resolution. The scope includes plant and HQ purchases with both domestic and import suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Procure and ensure high quality and continuity of supply of raw materials, MRO items, equipment, services, and finished goods for resale for assigned 3A Composites facility(s) on a daily basis
  • Prepare, issue, and administer purchase orders to keep operations running and able to meet customer requirements on a timely basis to ensure a consistent flow of orders supporting the facilities in an effective, cost-efficient manner
  • Create processes and use MRP to follow-up on back orders, late deliveries, expedited deliveries, and the creation or cancelation of orders.
  • Make sure information is created and shared with external suppliers and internal customers in a timely and accurate manner, including: purchase orders, material releases and delivery schedules, RMAs, invoices with complete information, and goods receipts
  • Respond to immediate and emergency needs from the plant floor and put in place a corrective action to prevent the emergency in the future
  • Locate, select, and maintain lists of potential sources of supply to assure a quick data base of capable sources of supply when needs arise
  • Support and/or lead cross-facility projects to help meet cost savings objectives
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned products and service categories
  • Master 3A purchasing procedures and develop SOP’s, as needed, to ensure facility practices are in compliance with corporate policy                                                                                 
  • Serve as a resource on 3A Purchasing Policy for plant(s) and other internal customers/relationships
  • Provide backup and vacation coverage for Buyers at other facilities

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years procurement, purchasing, inventory management, and/or other relevant business experience (required)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of strategic sourcing experience (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business or equivalent degree (required)
  • SAP knowledge in procurement area (preferred)
  • APICS, CRM, CPIM, or equivalent certifications in procurement or inventory management (preferred)
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable experience in program/project management
  • Exemplary interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities, and achieve deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to vendors and other 3A facilities as needed
