RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Logistic Strategy

  • Develop and execute an integrated distribution strategy related to current and future business requirements with the goal of minimizing total system cost, maximizing profitability and delivering customer service
  • Develop business plans and budgets and manage their execution

 

Risk Management

  • Develop strategies to ensure continuity of supply
  • Ensure adequate freight capacity is in line with projected forecasts and growth objectives
  • Manage and minimize the risks (operational or reputational) that could affect or interrupt the supply chain

 

Logistics Sourcing - including Ground, Air & Ocean Freight, 3PL Services

  • Conduct market analysis, business needs assessments, supplier assessments, RFP, negotiations, and contracting
  • Negotiate with vendors to get the best rates possible on materials and moving services

 

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

  • Develop and track KPIs
  • Deliver and track productivity through price negotiation and continuous improvement initiatives

 

Operations of a Consolidation Center (storage and mixing center for finished goods)

  • Responsible for all aspects of operational performance related to the Consolidation Center
  • Oversee the day to day management of the supply chain and operations, including: receiving, handling, packaging, delivery and people management
  • Ensure our customers receive outstanding on-time delivery services
  • Create and maintain an inclusive dashboard of operational KPIs/metrics/assessment tools to understand the overall performance of the CC and the team and ensure customer requirements and CC goals are met
  • Improve business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures
  • Implement health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy and laws

 

Warehouse Design and Optimization

  • Develop and implement a functional warehouse layout to optimize how loads are placed into trucks, reduce time needed to fill a vehicle, and enable inventory accuracy and product rotation

 

Staffing and People Development

  • Coordinate proper staffing levels to ensure sufficient coverage and maximum productivity
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop a productive warehouse management team including supervisors and other key roles

 

Compliance Management

  • Develop and manage a trade program for the company
  • Provide corporate representation with national and international peers and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure processes are in place and in compliance with audit requirements
  • Support Freight Order to Pay process ensuring compliant validation and audit of payment
  • Manage inbound and outbound North American logistics/transportation and fleet function(s) in accordance with all legal, customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Consider the environmental impact of the supply chain in order to meet sustainability targets

 

Business Relationships

  • Foster positive business relationships with senior leaders across 3A and the logistics supplier network to ensure alignment of logistics strategies and performance expectations
  • Liaise with our freight forwarders, 3PLs, and other external partners to guarantee timely, accurate inventory delivery and system compliance (resolving any systematic or physical non-conformances)
  • Keep management informed of competitive trends in wages, freight movement, equipment and fuel costs and other transportation issues
  • Recommend and implement changes to stay competitive in providing services

 

Technology Optimization

  • Implement new technologies and stay alert to new trends and developments in the sector
  • Use IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs
  • Use data from IT systems to evaluate performance and quality and to plan improvements
  • Implement improved fleet management and tracking

 

 

EXPERIENCE

10+ years, Operations/Supply Chain or Distribution/Logistics/Transportation industry related experience- preferably within an B2B environment

8+ years Procurement Sourcing or Logistics Commodity Management experience - international freight and domestic transportation

Proven capabilities to create, lead and deliver a logistics strategy

Experience creating a collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, and building relationships with industry peers and suppliers

Highly knowledgeable of Incoterms, standard trade definitions, U.S. Harmonized Tariff codes/classifications, documents necessary for international trade and U.S. Schedule B codes for export.

Working knowledge of cycle-count process and SAP

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field required

Master’s degrees in logistics and supply chain management preferred

 

TRAVEL

Ability to travel up to 30%
