Learning & Development Manager | Davidson, NC

Reports To:   Human Resources Director       FLSA Status: Exempt        Direct Reports: None     

Purpose

The L&D Manager will play a key role in the success of 3A Composites’ business and sales growth through the design and delivery of learning, development, and organization effectiveness solutions.  

  • Win over new distributor sales professionals through best in class development and support programs that position them to confidently drive sales of 3A Composites’ product portfolio.
  • Drive a high-performance culture internally through the design and delivery of leadership development, training, change management, and talent programs.

Responsibilities

External Sales Training & Enablement (70%)

Win over new distributor sales professionals through best in class support programs such as onboarding, product orientation, and ongoing training and development that positions them to confidently drive sales of 3A Composites’ product portfolio.

  • Works closely with the Director, Distributor Relations to assess needs, design, and deliver dynamic sales training experiences for new distributor sales professionals so that they full understand the 3A product portfolio and can confidently sell it in the marketplace.  
  • Identify opportunities where 3A Composites can have “touch points” in our partners’ employee lifecycles – onboarding welcome kits, product portfolio education, new product launches.
  • Collaborate with 3A’s VP, Sales & Marketing and regional sales leadership to design and iterate training programs.
  • Manage the development of all instructional training delivery methods (in person, online, self-service, etc.) and mediums such as audio-visual materials, instructor guides, and curriculum.
  • Maintain the development and integration of learning programs to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives in line with 3A’s brand and values.
  • Manage the needs assessment for training and development to enhance the effectiveness of sales professional performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the company.
  • Assess the current state of training content across and drive improvements, creativity and innovation in the way training content is displayed and distributed.
  • In partnership with Marketing Services, create training and communications to existing distributor sales professionals when there is a new product offering or innovation.
  • Explore LMS / eLearning platforms that could be leveraged externally for ongoing product training and just-in-time training delivery for existing/established distributor sales professionals.
  • Liaise and develop partnerships with L&D leads at distributor partners.

Talent Management (30%)

Drive a high-performance culture through the design and delivery of leadership development, training, change management, and talent programs.

  • Partner with the Vice Presidents of Sales to identify any learning or skill gaps, and develop, deliver, and facilitate sales training solutions to bridge those gaps.
  • Investigate the training resources that we have available through associations, memberships, and IAPD (International Association of Plastics Distribution) and identify opportunities for 3A to better utilize.
  • Lead the exploration of local or state or grant and incentive opportunities in the communities in which we operate.
  • Partner with the HR Director to create and iterate training programs for mid-level managers, top talent, and sales.
  • Facilitate compliance, leadership, and train-the-trainer sessions as needed
  • Supports the integration efforts of future M&A activity through the application of change management methodologies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Four Year Degree in a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with learning delivery, program implementation, and facilitation principles
  • Aptitude to understand, explain, and train on technical product offerings
  • Willingness and ability to deeply learn our markets, manufacturing capabilities, product portfolio, and value proposition
  • Experience designing organizational programs simultaneously, setting priorities, and achieving deadline
  • Natural communicator and facilitator with strong influential consulting skill
  • Experience influencing sponsors, stakeholders, vendors and project team members
  • Experience implementing training in a LMS and using an eLearning design platform such as Articulate or Captivate a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed
